SMT factories run on tight production rhythms, with multiple processes that must be closely coordinated. Keeping materials moving smoothly and on time is critical-any delay in delivery can halt the production line, disrupt schedules, and increase costs. As production expands, relying on manual logistics often becomes a bottleneck, prompting more electronics manufacturers to explore automated intralogistics solutions.
One large SMT factory faced this exact challenge after expanding its production lines. With a payload of 300kg, the Flyboat AMR autonomously transports materials across the factory, reducing the need for manual loading and unloading and lowering labor intensity. It uses laser navigation and multi-sensor perception to move safely and accurately in complex environments, without requiring major modifications to the workshop layout. This allows the factory to integrate the robot seamlessly into existing operations.
An intelligent scheduling system assigns tasks based on real-time production demand, coordinating multiple robots to reduce empty runs and improve overall efficiency. For multi-floor factories, the system can integrate with elevators and automatic doors, enabling unmanned transport between warehouses, preparation areas, and production lines. Staff can trigger deliveries with a simple remote command, keeping human intervention to a minimum.
After implementing the Flyboat AMR, the factory achieved faster and more consistent material deliveries without increasing logistics staff.
