If you've ever stepped foot inside a consumer electronics factory, you know how chaotic the floor can get. Parts are moving non-stop, batches change every few hours, and if one delivery is even five minutes late, an entire production line can grind to a halt. For years, most factories relied on teams of workers pushing heavy carts back and forth between the warehouse and the lines. It worked, barely-but it was inconsistent, exhausting, and always the first thing to break when production ramped up.

I saw this firsthand last year when we worked with a large electronics manufacturer in southern China. They'd just invested millions in brand-new automated SMT lines, expecting to boost output by 60%. But three months in, they were barely hitting 40% of their target. The problem wasn't the machines-it was the people. Their warehouse team couldn't keep up with the faster production pace. Now it takes 7 minutes, and the line worker never has to leave their station.

The biggest challenge we faced was the multi-floor layout. The warehouse is on the first floor, but production spans floors 2 through 4. Our robots handle this completely on their own-they call the elevator, ride up, and even interface with the automatic doors at each entrance. We had to tweak the elevator integration a bit during the first week, but once we got it right, it worked flawlessly.

After the pilot was successful, they rolled out 32 robots across the entire facility. The results have been staggering:

Overall logistics efficiency increased by 112% (effectively doubled)

Average material delivery time dropped from 18 minutes to 7 minutes

Line downtime due to missing parts fell by 87%

They reassigned 22 workers from manual cart pushing to more skilled, higher-paying positions
